The Mercedes-Benz team is very busy coming up with the CLR or the new Cabrio C-Class. Designers fit this car with a collapsing hard top to meet the market competition head on.

Right now, the CLC is the forerunner of Mercedes in that classification but its physique of being a 3-door liftback doesn’t really perfectly fit the picture. It is also based on the DNA of the older Sportcoupe C-Class.

The CLC is a bit behind when compared to the new C-Class and it will most likely see the end of its line during the mid-cycle of the range.

According to Mercedes-Benz insiders, the CLC will be killed from production by 2010 and be replaced with a more competitive 2011 C-Class Coupe.

Those looking for the hatchback form will not be dismayed since they will be producing a smaller version of the Sportcoupe derived from the platform of the next gen A Class.

The buzz remains a buzz until we hear an official confirmation from the car manufacturer. If the next C Class Coupe will roll out from the assembly line, the power train will most likely be sounding and performing like the rest of the C-Class.

300SL or otherwise known as Gullwing – has been resurrected five decades after the 2-seater set the 1954 New York auto show into frenzy. Now that Gullwing is named SLS – and will sure steal the spotlight for Mercedes-Benz at the Frankfurt’s motor show on September 2009.

Prototypes are now making a buzz to give car aficionados a glimpse of its design and specifications. Volker Mornhinweg, AMG boss, had stated that the redefinition of this Mercedes still holds it 300SL features. They just made the modernized reinvention with the long bonnet, well carved wings, erected windscreen, well-furnished doors and a rounded turret. Aside from those, they had also tapered the rear sides of the car.

SLS is revved up with the engine configuration of AMG’s 6.2 liter V8, with almost 120 of its components are redefined which includes a new aluminum crankcase that can actually reduce its weight by nine pounds. The mechanics are engineered to release a magnanimous 563 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes also revealed that the top speed is only restricted up to 196 miles per hour and that car will get 18 mpg for its emissions.

Safety is also very much considered in the making of the SLS. In fact, the models are equipped with eight airbags- two at the front, two at the side, two at the knees and two for window devices.
SLS will be out in the North American car market in the middle of 2010 and the expected price will be at around $250,000.

The brand new Mercedes is a symbol of its evolution from the old CLK model not only in its line name but also in its handling and structure that clearly support E-class sedan revealed only recently.

The luxury car company aims to drive the E-class coupe farther up from the present CLK model. This move allows Mercedes room to introduce the C-class coupe at the lower end of their line.

The E-class coupe’s exterior is inspired by the E-class sedan. Both models have the outstanding grille design, greenhouse minus the pillars, and frameless doors. The E-class coupe gets twin trapezoid-shaped headlights and a clamshell hood. Mercedes said that the arch-flames at the rear wheels represent the style of the Ponton Mercedes that was famous in 1953. Although its interior is quite similar with the E-class sedan, the E-class coupe places its emphasis in quality posh materials and the latest automobile gadgetry like the COMAND controller.

Ironically, the E-class coupe is more advanced that its predecessors but it bears more of the classic Mercedes elegance. Likewise, it will serve as the basis for the much-awarded E-class convertible that will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The E-class convertible is assumed to reach the US market in 2010.

There is no official name for this new two-gullwing-door coupe model yet. Earlier reports last year suggested that it would be bear the SLC badge, but it seems that the plans have changed. There’s a possibility that it will carry the AMG badge. However, no official announcements from Mercedes-Benz have been made.

The company has already released a number of image clips of this coupe’s exterior. The car shows off a highly aerodynamic and modern finish which is almost spacey. Aside from the slick overall exterior, the coupe is also expected to boasts of a 550 hp to 650 hp V12 engine. This is the same engine used in the AMG Black Series.

The movable grille at the coupe’s rear, along with the three pointed black star behind the bumper’s black tape is reminiscent of earlier Mercedes-Benz classics, namely the Mercedes 300 SL. The Mercedes 300 SL is an earlier gullwing model from the 1950s.

This coupe’s class and power tandem has a big price tag pegged on it once it hits the show rooms in 2010. Quotes for this gullwing model reach up to $450,000 in the US and €150,000 in Europe.

This Mercedes-Benz gullwing coupe is designed to rival the Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi R8 and Lexus LF-A.

It’s been established: the CLS is one heck of a car and it has everything a pimp or a rapper might look for in a car just as much as it’ll please the 60-year old lawyer. It’s versatile and it’s hip.
