If you have read, seen pictures, and heard about the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E Class in the auto world, don’t be surprised if you cannot see it in the Detroit Auto Show. Viewing of the car was on an invitation basis for selected auto industry personalities and the media.

The car will not be for public viewing during the Detroit Auto Show but will be on spotlight during the Geneva Motor Show in March. Some are assuming that it will also be on display in New York come April.

The new E Class is scheduled to be on sale this summer in the United States.

The U.S. release will have their engines DNA pulled from the power plant of the E350 that outputs around 268 horsepower. There is also the adaptation from the E550 V8 engine that has 382 horsepower.

The 4MATIC version and the E63 AMG will not be out during the launch but will follow later this year. Same is true for the E350 Blue TEC that runs on diesel due for release in 2010.

Due to incompatibility with the high sulfur contents of the U.S. unleaded gasoline, the new-direct injection technology cannot be applied to the new Mercedes engines.

The car gets its styling cue from the Ponton Mercedes which was famous during the early ‘50s. The new E class will have an arch treatment for the rear wheel and rectangular headlamps.

There are also design highlights when one enters the car. Luxury is further emphasized by the ambient lighting, COMANd controller, and repackaged shifter.

The 2010 E class will also be equipped with the Attention Assist that detects the drowsiness of drivers. It will also have High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Drivers will also have further aid with the Blind Spot Assist and a technology which highlights pedestrians on the car’s central display system.

The Mercedes SLR current line may be saying goodbye this year but it is bidding farewell in style in the Detroit Auto Show. The final chapter of the great vehicle pays homage to the legendary Stirling Moss with the unveiling of the Stirling Moss SLR.

The new release is a second tribute to the legendary race car driver following the 2007 release of the SLR 722 praising Moss’ achievement during the 1955 Mille Miglia race.

True to its purpose, the Stirling Moss SLR bares similarities to the renowned Mercedes 300 SLR. Its carbon fiber chassis follows the line form of an arrow head. It has the long front end with a short rear over hang giving it anyone an impression that in can zoom like lightning on the road.

The design also drops the windshield and roof. Instead, it makes use of a wind deflector to improve the airflow across the car. Roll bars are also installed behind the passenger seat disguised by the air scoops housing them.

The interior of the car follows a minimalist perspective using high grade leather, carbon fiber, and aluminum. The shifter is the center of the interior featuring an engraved aluminum plate signed by Moss.

Under the hood of the SLR is a supercharged V8 engine adapted from the 722 edition. The power plant that outputs 650 horse power is capable of sending the car from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. Top speed is jotted at 217 mph.

The Stirling Moss SLR will be limited to 75 units with a price tag of over $1 million. Unfortunately, the car will not be sold in North America because of certification issues.

The elegant, classy image of every single Mercedes-Benz is something you just have to love! If you can't afford a brand new one, consider a used Mercedes. People located in the United Kingdom
should really check out www.Motors.co.uk for a great series of used Mercedes'!

Mercedes-Benz has hardly ever been seen as a green car maker throughout the automotive industry, and as it’s so important for car makers to at least give the appearance of caring about our precious earth, like most other car manufacturers, Mercedes has been working hard on developing electric/hybrid vehicles for the future…

This BlueZero concept is one of the main research results — which will probably lead to electric versions of the A-class and the Smart ForTwo…

I’m not unimpressed with the look either. Keep at it, Mercs!

I was one of the lucky people actually seeing this thing from up close in Paris and it’s huge. Weights over five tons, over five hundred horsepower and over eight hundred torques live under the impressive bonnet.

The S600 Guard is impressive. This S600 Pullman Guard is the best limo-thing Mercedes-Benz ever built.

This video report from the 2008 Geneva Motor Show about the 2009 Mercedes SL (a facelift version, which doesn’t change too much to the previous model if you ask me) shows a little too much of the show host and way too little of the SL, but still, what they show looks good.

The SL isn’t as glamorous as its original 1954 grandfather — but still quite awesome!
