This year’s Detroit Motor Show will have the first look on modified Mercedes C-class saloon. While the spy cam shots could only reveal a few alterations because of the camo, we can see that the there is a distinct difference in its rear end LED lights. The recent shots also reveal that the Mercedes C-class saloon carries a brand new set of headlights that are combined with horizontal LED-strip daytime lights.

As for the engine revamp, the Mercedes C-class saloon will let go of its existing five-speed engine and will receive the brand new four-cylinder diesel and petroleum engine units along with an option to upgrade to the seven-speed automatic transmission. Sources also revealed that the current 3.5 litre V6 engine will be replaced with a brand new engine that comes from the car company’s MoVe engines but will have the same capacity.

It is assumed that the revamping of the Mercedes C-class saloon will come with the adaption of Blutec diesel power trains and stop-start systems for engines. The remodeled Mercedes C-class saloon will make its debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show and will drive into the showrooms by the end of this year. Industry talks say that the coming of the remodeled Mercedes C-class saloon later this year will beat the launch of BMW’s next generation 3-Series and Audi’s remodeled A4 that are set to launch shortly.

If we’re talking about modified cars, Mercedez Benz models are not new to this arena. In fact, in the past few years, it has become one of the tuners’ favorite models to prep not just for showcase purposes but also for professional races.

However, modified cars look just about the same: flashy wheels with enough bling to make the blind see, kick-ass body kits, and last but not definitely not the least, more power. Tuning company Lorinser adapts this age-old formula for almost all the cars it modifies, and, ironically, comes up with models not too far from their original state.

Lorinser’s latest showcase is the high-end Mercedes C63 AMG, a high-end, high performance model to begin with. With this particular model under its wings, Lorinsers is planning to participate in this month’s Tuner Grand Prix in Hockenheimring, Germany. Lorinsers gives C63’s LV8 engine 500HP and 442lb-ft of torque.

The C63’s modified engine now accelerates at 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds, reaching 320km/h for its top speed. The model’s handling has also been modified. It comes with lowering springs, reducing its gravity center figures while raising its resistance to the roll of its body.

Of course, it comes with big and flashy 19inch alloy wheels making the car lighter and more stylish. It also keeps the car more responsive.

Watch out for the newly tuned and flashy Mercedes C63 AMG in this month’s Tuner Grand Prix in Germany. Lorinser’s bet should be interesting to see it compete side by side with those of Brabus, Techart, and Kicherer.

Car experts and enthusiasts raised eyebrows last year when information with regard to name change of the CLK to become the E-Class Coupe leaked out. Now about a month ago, the same issue was raised when the car manufacturer announced that the new Coupe E-Class is based on the platform of the C-Class just like its older sibling the CLK.

The Mercedes-Benz team is very busy coming up with the CLR or the new Cabrio C-Class. Designers fit this car with a collapsing hard top to meet the market competition head on.

Right now, the CLC is the forerunner of Mercedes in that classification but its physique of being a 3-door liftback doesn’t really perfectly fit the picture. It is also based on the DNA of the older Sportcoupe C-Class.

The CLC is a bit behind when compared to the new C-Class and it will most likely see the end of its line during the mid-cycle of the range.

According to Mercedes-Benz insiders, the CLC will be killed from production by 2010 and be replaced with a more competitive 2011 C-Class Coupe.

Those looking for the hatchback form will not be dismayed since they will be producing a smaller version of the Sportcoupe derived from the platform of the next gen A Class.

The buzz remains a buzz until we hear an official confirmation from the car manufacturer. If the next C Class Coupe will roll out from the assembly line, the power train will most likely be sounding and performing like the rest of the C-Class.
